Rabbit Awareness Week 2025

By June 25, 2025 Greenbay Vet News

Rabbit Awareness Week is 23rd-27th June.

This year the aim is to spread awareness about the importance of providing rabbits with enriching, loving and safe homes.

You can check out their Facebook page for lots of info and tips, but here are a few facts to be aware of:

  • According to RSPCA guidelines, rabbits need housing where they can hop, run, jump, dig and stretch out fully when lying down. They need enough room to exercise and stand up fully on their back legs without their ears touching the roof. A proper setup includes separate areas for feeding, resting, and exercise.
  • Rabbits need a minimum area of 3m x 2m x 1m for a pair of rabbits to ensure they can express natural behaviours.
  • Rabbits are very social, so it’s so important that we provide them with company of their own kind.

You can read lots more about about rabbit care and behaviour on the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund website.
